A TAILORED PV SYSTEM WAS DESIGNED AND INSTALLED AT THE DONCASTER SITE INITIALLY, AND FOLLOWING ITS SUCCESS, A SECOND SYSTEM WAS DELIVERED AT THE LEEDS SITE

21,600 KWH AND 105,300 KWH OF RENEWABLE ENERGY ANNUALLY WILL BE GENERATED AT THE DONCASTER AND LEEDS SITES RESPECTIVELY

ACROSS BOTH SITES, THIS WILL REDUCE CARBON EMISSIONS BY APPROXIMATELY 59,600 KG PER YEAR.

“As principal contractor, Milestone appointed G&H to design, manage and install bespoke solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across two sites. From the outset, G&H proved to be a reliable and knowledgeable partner, clearly understanding the project requirements and delivering tailored solutions for each location. Their works were well managed and coordinated, ensuring smooth integration with other trades and minimal disruption on site. Clear communication, strong organisation and a consistent focus on quality and safety contributed to the successful delivery of both installations, and we would welcome the opportunity to work with G&H again on future projects.”

OVERVIEW

Rema Tip Top, a global manufacturer of tyre repair systems and conveyor solutions, undertook significant roofing upgrades at its facilities in Doncaster and Leeds. As part of this programme,
the business sought to reduce operational energy costs and support its sustainability objectives
through the installation of on-site renewable energy generation. G&H was appointed by the principal contractor, Milestone, to design, manage, and install tailored solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across both sites.

SOLUTION – DONCASTER

At the Doncaster site, G&H installed a 44-panel system supported by a 20 kW inverter. The
system was carefully positioned across a 14m x 9m north-east and south-west facing gable
roof to maximise solar exposure and energy generation.

The installation is expected to generate approximately 21,600 kWh of renewable energy
annually, reducing carbon emissions by around 10,150 kg per year. Of this, 20,900 kWh will be
consumed onsite (approximately 12.5% self sufficiency) and around 700 kWh will be exported
to the grid.

SOLUTION – LEEDS

At the Leeds facility, G&H installed a 168-panel (620 W modules) solar PV system in just two weeks. The system, which has a capacity of over 104 kWp, was mounted onto a newly clad trapezoidal roof, ensuring seamless integration with the building fabric.

The system is expected to generate in the region of 105,300 kWh of energy per year, achieving close to 45% self-sufficiency and reducing carbon emissions by 49,450 kg CO2 annually.

Total annual generation is anticipated to be 126,900 kWh across both sites, delivering a
combined carbon reduction of around 59,600 kg CO2 per year. Both installations are forecast to deliver a return on investment within four years through reduced energy costs and long-term savings
