OVERVIEW
This large-scale scheme demonstrates our ability to manage the entire process, making best use of our fabrication facility, experienced workforce and extensive knowledge of STOR projects.
The scheme was pre-designed by the client and we assembled a specialist team of engineers, welders, site supervisors and project managers to work closely along side them through each stage of the project.
CHALLENGE
With the bespoke components made to order, organising our workload was vital to ensure we could deliver to site and install at specific times.
SOLUTION
As an example of the scale, large bore pipework included four, seven-metre-long communal flues that were 1.2-metres-wide.
In total, we prefabricated one mile of stainless steel pipework, all of which was tested offsite before being delivered to South Wales, installed, connected and then re-tested.
Some eight tonnes of steel pipework supports were installed throughout the project with over 90% manufactured at our Leeds headquarters.
RESULTS
Accurate planning and quality control to meet the most exacting standards resulted in a defect-free installation that due to the size of the project, took 12 weeks to complete.
