OVERVIEW

This project required us to utilise all our experience of working in Central London; project managing the logistically delivery of materials to a restricted site and minimising disruption outside the hospital.

Key services installed included chilled water, LTHW, domestic services including sanitary ware, medical gasses supplies and ventilation.

CHALLENGE

Internally, we worked sensitively and considerately in a cancer ward of a live hospital environment spanning two floors, minimising disruption to patients and staff while carrying out invasive work to strict deadlines.

SOLUTION

The process was managed by preplanned liaison to arrange for access to be granted at the least inconvenient time, which resulted in us regularly working out of core office hours.

Organisation and good planning were central to the success of the scheme and this was possible due to our strategy of having open and clear lines of communication with the contractor and client. This was vital as we delivered complex elements of the scheme that included accessing underground drainage systems going through two floors and isolating services without affecting the hospital’s capacity to provide treatment.

RESULTS

The commitment and our workforce’s attitude and behaviour was commended by the hospital and the main contractor, the Russell Cawberry Group.
