“The team from G&H worked excellently to achieve the installation of the new heat pump system within the summer holidays. From the late award of CIF funding, this was an impressive feat. The designers worked well with the school to ensure requirements were met by the new system and the installation phase was fast and efficient, going over and above to ensure the result more than met the school’s expectations. As always with G&H, the communication throughout the project was great. Overall it was another highly successful project, where the aims and objectives were delivered or exceeded with minimal disruption.”

OVERVIEW

With support from Warneford Consulting, Endeavour Partnership Trust secured funding
from the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) to replace the legacy heating and cooling systems
at Windrush Primary School to address the inconsistent classroom temperatures and
maintenance procurement. The upgrade aimed to improve energy efficiency, ensure reliable
performance, and create a more comfortable learning environment for pupils and staff.

Appointed following a competitive tender, G&H led the installation of a modern VRF heat pump system with heat recovery, featuring the latest energy-efficient technology for enhanced climate control. The project included installing indoor units and condensers, localised controls, electric panel heaters in toilets and corridors, new power and field wiring, and a replacement distribution board with improved labelling – all fully integrated with the school’s Building Management System (BMS).

To ensure smooth operation, G&H also provided comprehensive training for school staff.

The installation was completed within the summer holiday period, ensuring zero disruption
to teaching. The new VRF heat pump system now provides reliable climate control across
the school while reducing energy consumption and supporting the Trust’s carbon reduction
objectives.
